Fred & Andy

Starfish

Andy wakes a bit full of cold but decides to go for a dive anyway. Fred has an early morning run around the island. Then, after a frustrating hour in the super slow internet cafe, goes to meet Andy who didn't have a good dive. Firstly he struggled to equalize because of his cold. He did manage in the end but it was a bit painful and the currents were also pretty strong so he didn't enjoy all of it, despite seeing more turtles in one place than he's ever seen before. He decides to give the afternoon dive a miss and puts it down to experience - you have bad ones once in a while and its where you really get to test your skills so every cloud and all that.

We start to check out other accommodation on the west side of the island in the afternoon and see this well disguised starfish on the way. Andy's feeling a bit rubbish with his cold so Fred leaves him to rest and heads off east side. It seems it's nearly high season so prices are starting to rise. She goes into quite a few places before venturing into a nice place just off the main drag. It's too expensive but one of the guys there says he knows just the place and offers to take her. She's dubious but after he describes it and gives her a price she thinks there's nothing to lose so after going down a maze of shortcuts they get there. It's a massive and beautiful bamboo cabin in nice gardens with a really nice couple who run it. Done ... we'll take it. It's right on the other side of the island so a bit of a walk tomorrow but it's only 50m from the sea and closer to Andy's dive school so all good.
