Once, killing a rainy hour in the British Museum, Keith came across a display case devoted to his life.

There was a plastic cowboy from the top of his fifth birthday cake, a penknife that he had lost whilst camping with Stella and a wheelbrace from his first car.

And there was a button which, when pressed, played a recording of him saying goodbye to Stella for the last time.
