Phil Walsh - RIP

In the early hours of this morning, the coach of the Adelaide Crows in Australia's AFL National Football League was murdered by his 26 year old son. The Adelaide Crows is the Aussie Rules football team that I follow with a passion.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Walsh's house at Somerton Park in the early hours because of reports of a domestic dispute between father and son. Paramedics treated Walsh, 55, at the house but he died at the scene from multiple stab wounds. Walsh's wife was taken to hospital to be treated for a leg injury.

Walsh has been in the football system for 32 years, firstly as a star player and then as a coach. This tragedy today would be roughly like Sir Alex Ferguson being murdered in UK. Adelaide's AFL match against Geelong this weekend has been cancelled.

Today I went to the Playford Lake, looking for a reflective image in memory of Phil. I found these 7 ducks. They represent the 7 clubs that Phil has been connected with in his illustrious career. Phil has been at 3 different clubs as a player and he has been a coach at 4 other clubs. He was appointed as head coach of the Adelaide Crows 9 months ago.
