Dog rescue

Dog rescuers extraordinaire - that's us.

Paladian and I were taking Mishy for a walk today when a stranger came up to us with this dog on a lead, saying that she found him wandering around on the main road, and did we know who he belonged to.  We didn't, but as this lady was only a visitor to the neighborhood, it seemed logical for us to take over, and try and find the owner.

Anyway to cut a long story short, one of the phone numbers on Max's collar was to a lady in Melbourne (yes, that's right Melbourne) who was the daughter of the dog's owner.

We were able to take Max home (about 600m from where we live), but there was no sign of the owner at the house. Max took matters into his own hands and went straight inside through the dog door. He knew where he was alright!  Beautifully behaved dog by the way - Mishy got a bit overwrought, but I can understand that.

The daughter finally caught up with her mother, who had no idea that poor, one-eyed Max was missing.  She and Max were visiting a neighbour and Max got out of the back yard - which they thought was secure.

What a drama!  But all's well that ends well.  We've truly lost count of the number of dogs we've been able to help around here.
