Dancing in the Rain

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass . . . it's about learning to dance in the rain." - Vivian Greene.

It was a damp and drippy July 4th in my little corner of the U.S.A. It drizzled from morning into afternoon, but finally cleared in time for the evening fireworks.

We did not drive anywhere to see fireworks, but we heard and saw plenty of them in our own neighborhood. There is nothing quite like the thought of explosive flaming materials in the hands of (possibly drunken) amateurs to inspire confidence and give one that special 4th of July feeling. . . .

The only photos I took on this day were a couple of pictures around the yard. All of the flowers were covered in raindrops, and it hadn't quite stopped raining yet when I went out.

I walked around in the mist taking pictures, when I came upon the Dancing Girls. They live in a good neighborhood, in a hanging planter next to the purple osteospermum near the front porch. The Dancing Girls were (of course, and as always) dancing in the rain!

I've picked not just one but two songs to accompany this image. The first is Shane Harper's Dancin' in the Rain. The second is Bob Dylan's Rainy Day Women #12 & 35.
