The Hill House

We were in Helensburgh today to recce a walk for the club.  We walked up to The Hill House, designed by Charles Rennie McIntosh, and before starting our walk we had a look around the gardens.  The Hill House is badly in need of renovation now as it is suffering from water ingress and monies are being collected for this purpose.  Charles Rennie McIntosh's architecture is world famous and very much admired and many people and societies seem willing to help fund the renovation.   The interior is simply stunning and was such a revelation at the time of building when most architects were designing Victorian type houses.

Above The Hill House, which as you will realise is high up above Helensburgh, there is a pathway though the woods which leads right along to Rhu and we walked this, coming down onto the Gairloch at Rhu Marina and continuing along the lochside back to Helensburgh.

We walked in nice weather in the beginning and about half way through the walk we had some rain intermittently.  We used our brollies rather than putting on jackets as it was still warm.

We had coffee in the town before driving home, and we had a lovely day.  Hope it was the same for all of you.
