Open Gardens Bridge of Allan


Well, it's over for another year.
The Bridge-of-Allan Open Gardens worked like clockwork with all the gardens, teas, plants and most important, visitors coming together.

Moreover, it did not rain though we had some visitors from the west coast who said they had come through several heavy showers.


The photo is of Frances Fielding's garden. This is a fairly new cottage garden and Frances has worked hard to create a wonderful garden full of textures, colour and a clever use of space.

The key to a successful Open Gardens has little to do with the quality of the gardens and more to do with the teas. In past years St Saviour's church with their team of volunteers did this in the village hall only a few weeks ago there was a fire in the kitchen making it unusable.

We were faced with a potential disaster then the community rallied around and one member offered us the use of his garden and the Girl Guides loaned their marquee.
So the team from the church were able to do all the catering providing their usual delicious teas- for which we are all immense grateful.

This is the seventh year we have opened under Scotland's Garden scheme and you can see more about us on YouTube when we featured in a BBCTV Beechgrove Gardens programme, not because our gardens were special (though we think they are!) but because we coincided with the 75th anniversary of Scotland's Garden Scheme and they wanted to focus on gardens opening for the first time.
