Jaume Plensa

Ah. This is better, but then Jaume Plensa never does much less than spectacle. While the others took off to the Lido I went for a wander with a day ticket for the vaporetto. Basilica di San Giorgio Maggiore is home to this gorgeous piece. Out of shot is a suspended representation of a hand reaching out as if to bless, or touch the head, hence the title of the work. It isn't religious art as such, but it has meaning, power and beauty. This is what I was hoping to get out of the Biennale. So, I'm happy. There's more promise for other days now I've done the research. Maybe the Arsenale was just that - arse. A rather splendid lunch of grilled sole followed and a little look a fascinating exhibition based on, but not all comprising, graffiti and other forms of street art made for a most successful day.

Pasta with prawns, lime juice, chili and olive oil awaits.
