Opening The Gala Day

My old Primary School celebrates its tercentenary this year - that's 300 years since Rev Richard Hill started a school in the church porch. The building in use during my time there has been sold and converted to a private dwelling; the current school building, a few hundred yards away, is modern with more classrooms and better facilities - we had only two and had to borrow the village hall for one class.

I dragged Mr Flum all this way to join in the celebration, enjoy a cream tea and, in his case a burger, entertained by Sounds Like Swing playing numbers from the '50's and '60's. I had a lovely chat with one or two members of the school board and also the organiser of the exibition, promising copies of material that might enhance her archives.

Here the Mayor of Charnwood  is officially opening the celebration.
