Visiting the cousins

Last night Angie mentioned she needed the Jeep and horse trailer for a trip to Ulm, about 70km from here and just inside the neighbouring state of Baden-Württemburg.

Even though Ulm has the highest church tower in the world and so no doubt worth the trip for a different Blip, I said I would stay at home with the temperature again set to go over 35°C.

This morning I was then told why - not a horsey happening but to pick up a free, used pet animal house. My doubts as to the needs for another "safe house" for brooding chickens with chicks were rejected. I gave way and agreed to go along for the ride, particularly as this morning at 8:00 am we had a good thunderstorm, the temperature was bearable and there was no sign of the sun.

Naturally, by the time we got to Ulm the sun came out and it was hot. We then got to see the "house" - it was actually a villa in terms of size and weight. There was no way of carrying it out from the garden for two men and one very strong woman. Four men would not have managed it. Ended up borrowing a car trailer from a neighbour, sliding the house on it, then on the road sliding it into the horse trailer. The table base had been detached and then had to be taken apart to get it in. The thing was so large we couldn't fully close the trailer ramp and had to use straps to secure it.

The whole action took ages, the poor dogs were fed up and we were exhausted when we left. No chance of detouring to Blip the Minster.

That was the end of my being of any use, day! Certainly wasn't going out to collect the rest of the hay from yesterday.
