Duck family latest!

If you tuned in yesterday, you would have known that a family of nine ducklings was in peril, as the mother chose to take them through a series of canal locks. I spoke to the young lock keeper today, and he assures me that eight ducklings and mum, made it through to the calm waters of the Muirton Basin, where they can hide among the boats in at the moorings. We may have lost one, but it's not a bad result. Seemingly another duck did this the preceding day, with grisly results as a dredger came over the top of them. The bereaved mother is reported to be assisting our wee family. I wonder how much of this is avoidable? Could they not put a duck friendly sign up?
