This seed head ....

This seed head looked quite spectacular, it's at least four times bigger than a dandelion but I don't know what the plant is ... it was growing at the side of a country road ....
I also saw a heron, I think it is a young one, i liked the markings down it's front so have added an extra photo today of the heron....
