Pond Life

I went in close to capture the smaller life in the pond.  The transparent fish like creature is a Phantom Midge larvae, the creature out of focus, I think, is a Mayfly nymph.  The exceptionally sinister but totally fascinating creature on the left, I haven't a clue although I've just wasted an hour trying to find out what it is.  Go large to see an alien!

Back tomorrow with IDs... more pond life very soon. I'm enjoying pond dipping and have a very tolerant friend who doesn't mind shoving fish and observation tanks around the table to make room for her coffee!
