Jay

Had a lovely walk with friends round Rushmere Country Park this morning. After the walk, G and I went into a wildflower meadow opposite and spotted this Jay sunning himself on a favourite tree.  Jay's are quite shy birds, so it was lovely to see.  I read that they have a penchant for acorns which they cache in Autumn and revisit during harsher times.  A single birds can bury several thousand nutritious nuggets each year, which helps spread oak woodlands.
