Seagulls in Action

Blip mate and I went to the wharf at the mouth of the estuary this morning to try and capture birds in flight. With temperatures still around zero and a piercing wind straight off the snow, we nearly froze.

There were lots of birds - shags, spoonbills, terns, herons, oyster catchers and even a distant white heron but it was the seagulls that were the easiest to photograph with their slow wingbeat and gliding habit. There was not enough light to use a fast shutter speed but there were plenty of gulls for us to practice on.

There are some more seagull shots in extra.
