A gate

After visiting my aunt over in the west, I had a quick drive round the south of Glasgow in search of a potential blip, and after zooming round Langside, Battlefield and Mount Florida, I settled on this gate in Cathcart.

Now this is not just any gate, but the gate to Holmwood House, which is a magnificent suburban villa designed by Alexander 'Greek' Thompson.

Holmwood is considered to be immensely influential by several architectural historians, because the design as published in 'Villa and Cottage Architecture: select examples of country and suburban residences recently erected' may have influenced Frank Lloyd Wright and other proto-modernist architects.

I hope you have all had a good Saturday.
