Cancelled!

We had booked theatre tickets for a show in Finsbury Park-a journey of 15-20 minutes by tube from Victoria.  Unfortunately, due to the tube strike, the trip took us over 2 1/2 hours. Although we left the South Coast on an earlier train, we still missed the show as the traffic was gridlocked.  The staff at the theatre were unbelievably helpful and are trying to get us tickets for Saturday (which is the last day of the show) but we faced another 3 hour journey back to Victoria for our train home.  C still a bit fragile with his gout or I would have suggested walking.  Even so, we did decide to walk the last mile or two and found ourselves overtaking most of the traffic, which was at a complete standstill.  I feel very sorry for all those commuters who were struggling during rush hours, which must have been even worse.  Well done to the bus drivers, though, who must have had a lot of abuse through no fault of their own.
