Moon cottage- Open Gardens

This was the first time  our friends, Jeannie and David Ashton, had opened their  garden to the public under Scotland's Gardens scheme and they were worried incase nobody turned up.

Well, their fears were groundless. By the time we got there the place was heaving with people. Fortunatley it was a lovely afternoon and they had also laid on delicious teas and we all sat outside on the lawn under gazebos meeting up with old friends and it was a jolly afternoon.

David has transformed their two and half acre woodland and garden into an amazing garden with a big pond, folly, vegetable garden, specimen trees,  lawns, flower beds, and a water collection and recovery system.  When they first moved in some 15 years ago it was little more than some wild woods and an overgrown garden.
I remember Jeannie telling me she saw the cottage advertised and fell in love with the name of it "Moon cottage".
And that was it. They bought it.
