Morning

I wake. There is sun. One or two other people are stirring and J has put the kettle on but the boat morning hasn't really started yet. I swing my feet out of the bunk and onto the floor and walk to the back of the boat. Up five steps and here is the day. The water is completely flat and the low sun and trees are reflected perfectly.

Teaching here is not at all like other teaching. We sleep in the same small space that doubles as a classroom, we get dressed in front of each other, we negotiate over who's having the shower next. My only authority is how I can help people learn.

That's how I like it. That, and being outside.
