Scotland's Open Gardens

Mike and Ollie stayed home while Gwen and I had a day out, exploring some of the other gardens in Orkney that were open as part of the Open Gardens scheme.

Lovely to see all the things that can be grown up on windy hillsides and in boggy spots and admire the terrific amount of work that must have gone into making them such beautiful gardens.  Really enjoyed chatting to the owners too, and getting some seeds and lots of ideas!

Just heard that our village open gardens raised £1640 over the last two Sundays!  That was from six gardens, not counting the money from the cream teas.  This year's charity was the Neuro Ward at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
