Two Trees

Took a wonderful walk in the rain to Heddons Mouth, across the fields and along a wooded river valley, such gorgeous countryside. We got drenched.
Onto a second rubbish pit today, the top soil was all dug and narrowed away yesterday evening and covered to protect it from the rain. So today I was able to see the archaeology, numerous shards of pottery which I could carefully free up and lift. Under the pottery there was an early medieval floor tile, which was very exciting, some metal fragments and a largely intact pot, which presented a real challenge not to break it. I felt like a proper archaeologist today!!
