My Fair Lady

A Weighty Tome

Nothing better than snuggling down with a good book on a cold winter's evening - in my case, Seth's A Suitable Boy. I seem to recall reading that it is the longest English-language novel published since the seventeenth century. Sixteen pages down, 1458 to go. Phew!

This is a photo of the endpapers coupled with some pages of the text.

"And, gentle reader, you as well,
The fountainhead of all remittance,
Buy me before good sense insists
You'll strain your purse and sprain your wrists."

Vikram Seth
