Ticking all the boxes

Our day to do all the obvious stuff in Venice.

We started with a wander in the Rialto market, amazed in particular by the variety of fish and shellfish.

Then to Piazza San Marco, great views from the Campanile, great buildings to photograph, great fun chatting to the other tourists. And the best value espresso on the square - standing at the bar at Café Lavena.

We took the big loop on the vaporetto round the grand canal and then back down the lagoon to San Marco, for a walk through the famous basilica.

Bellini and cannoncini as a treat before dinner in Cannaregio, a find busy with locals, including a hen party. We ate well, and smiled a lot, and perhaps that's why we ended the night with limoncello on the house.

My blip is of the gondolas, of course, with extra photos of the market and the view down on the piazza.
