Lucky three...

First off, brought another lot of cows and calves in to wean. Well, most of them any way. A1 decided to go over a dyke and took off up a field with 2 calves following her, none of which were hers. Then 8 calves went over the roadside fence into another field. There was no way they were coming out,so had to let some cows in beside them then rally them all out again.
Went off to bale the grass I cut last night for silage. Got to the field, opened the side panels on the baler to check everything before I started only to discover this nest full of blackbird chicks inside. Put the nest on the tractor floor until I came back in,then put the nest up on the shed wall ,next to where the baler had been. When I looked tonight the female was sitting on them quite happy on the new location !
Had to stop baling this afternoon to bring in a cow and calve her. However the calf was dead, and she only has one teat that works.Lifted a calf off a cow that is refusing to take her calf and twinned it in to this one. Will see what happens. She won't be getting bulled again any way. Its a tough life !
