Chandelier

B and I spent a fab day exploring the V&A museum in London and this is a close up of the top of the enormous glass chandelier by the USA artist Dale Chihuly which hangs under the dome of the main entrance to the museum. This version was erected in 2001.
This is a fixed chandelier and so a raising/lowering platform has to be used when cleaning it, which is only done when the museum is closed, the cleaner has to move it around the chandelier cleaning it in sections, starting at the top and moving downward.  A special anti-static wand sprayed with cleaning fluid is used which is poked around amongst the glass pieces which flex and move but then settle back into place. This task takes several mornings to complete.  See extra picture to get an idea of how huge this is and how brave the cleaner must be!
