Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

A room full of balloons

This afternoon we took the granddaughters to the Henry Gallery to see the exhibition “Martin Creed: work No.360: half the air in a given space”.  It’s a huge room , containing 37,000 16” silvery balloons, exactly half of the volume of the room.   20 people at a time can go in.  We got about 8 feet into it when Fiona had had enough —One could get lost.   The best part for them was stuffing the balloons back in after coming out the door.
So, at dinner we tried to discuss what this art was about … Sculpture? installation? ordinary space in a different way?  Fiona said it best  “it’s about a room full of balloons with people walking through it.”

You can read about this eclectic British artist here… or here... there is a permanent artwork of his in the Tate Modern  He won the 2001 Turner Prize for "The Lights go On and Off"--  and PaulaJ below linked his steps in Edinburgh

An early row in crowded waters and dock (we are SO spoiled at the island..) and a really nice leisurely chatty lunch outside with Mikeday filled the rest of the day… now I’m ready for sleep!

Edit, this is one of those blips where the color has been drastically altered on upload.  ( should have made it Black and white. Maybe I will. Tomorrow)
Edit:  this is tomorrow.  just to experiment, I put the original color photo on the extra--it keeps the skin color etc that the blip itself lost.  Interesting.   but decided to go with a toned blip... not sure which I like better?   any thoughts?

My entry for the weekly blip challenge "contain"
