Burrishoole

This afternoon's trip was a visit to the ruined priory at Burrishoole, where some of the O'Reilly clan are buried. I'm a bit of a fan of old graveyards anyway but this one was special because of the personal connection to some of the graves but also because of its magnificent setting. The old priory or abbey, it seems to be known as both, was fascinating too having been a casualty of Henry VIII and the reformation and for the grave of a local priest who had been hanged for his role in an uprising about 1798.
