Gondola

Our daughter's to-do list for Italy included going on a gondola.

It's hard to imagine going to Venice and NOT doing that, it has to be said.

The €80 price tag was a slight off-putter but in retrospect so glad we did it. The gondolier was a lovely guy and the experience of swooshing silently along backstreet canals magical.

Leonardo's advice for Venice? "Put away your map, switch off your phone and go and get lost."
