Orchids in the Botanical Gardens, Kandy

The Royal Botanical Gardens in Kandy have a special pavilion for their extensive orchid collection (see also the extra shots), a must-see if you ever visit here.  We spent two hours wandering around and admiring practically everything -- the flowers, the trees, the shrubs.  They have, for example, some gigantic bamboo specimens with colours I never thought bamboo would have and stems I never knew could grow so thick.

We insisted on a 2-hour nap after lunch, after which we watched a cultural show in town, followed by a visit to the Temple of the Tooth.  I've said it before but I'll say it again ... it was quite a day!
