St Gordian's Cross

Who St Gordian's was, or what he did, are issues lost in the midst of time.

One version of the legend I was told today is that he was a Roman officer in charge at the Roman camp at Lyne.   He brought 50 men over to the head of the Manor valley.   They built a church there, but when the army heard about it they came and slaughtered the whole contingent.

There's an annual service held here on the hillside.  It was a wet affair today.

Ah edit because I forgot the quiz yesterday.  Yes, a horse exerciser!   I had never seen one before - it seems a shame for the poor horse, but then I know too little about them.
