When A Vision Becomes Reality

It's been a lovely day today. Out swimming. First time since my accident .Enjoyable even though certain parts are still battered. Then off to MOSI for coffee and from there to the Space Hall. Marvellous finds and even more great facts about Manchester / Salford and the astonishing people who have pioneered so much .The 1st all British aeroplane was the work of Alliot Verden Roe ( born in Patricroft 1877).He and his brother went on to form the A V Roe Company in 1910 in Ancoats .They became leaders in British Aircraft design and produced aircraft for both wars .
The red motor cycle is designed for a wheelchair user .Built in Hyde it is the invention of Alan Martin .His vision became a reality for his son who had suffered an accident. Known as
the Martin Conquest Motorcycle it's based on the BMW 850cc engine .The above is 1000cc and there are others
1200cc . Many were manufactured and improved the lives of numerous people with mobility problems.
The other picture is taken from flat on the floor ( getting to be a habit ) and shows the amazing inside of a huge Shackleton
Produced by AV Roe ( AVRO ) Both these men had  vision and ensured it became reality .We returned to the museum later but then I rode it on my new bike ! See extra .
