Scout grows up

I couldn't help but get caught up in the excitement of a 'new' Harper Lee novel.

Loved being in the bookshop at lunchtime, where there was a buzz, and staff and customers beamed at each other with the thrill of folk picking up real books, the only way to be in on the story.

I've avoided reviews and conversations, to make up my own mind about the story.

So far, a third in, there's a real comfort of being back with such loved characters and an unavoidable sense of a country in transition.
