Ruellia humilis

This is the Fringed-Leafed Ruellia. It is a small plant and this was growing along the roadside. It opens at night and the flowers last only a day. It belongs to the Acanthaceae the majority of which are tropical. Ruellia is a native Kansan plant.

Today has been a lot cooler, in the low 80s which is very pleasant for a couple of days. By the weekend we shall be back in the high 90s.
