Purple haze

I felt bone-achingly tired this morning,  so caught up with some e-mails and a bit of report writing, interspersed with a few trips round the garden. The plants are humming with bees and hoverflies at the moment, a real contrast to last summer when numbers were low.

Our garden is full of nectar sources. The Russian Sage is perhaps the most visually attractive at this time of year, although the common knapweed, marjoram and globe thistles are equally favoured by our insect visitors.

In the afternoon Ben and I went into town, and once all our duties were done we enjoyed cups of mocha and a chance to chat. Luckily, this evening I'm feeling less tired - a day off is definitely good for the body sometimes.
