Seedpod season

We are just entering the season where there is as much interest in seed heads and seeds as in flowers. Some of the early bloomers, like these poppies, are creating their own fascination in the flower borders. These poppy seedpods are slowly changing colour and becoming more brittle. Soon the slots around the top will open up and we will be able to hear the dried-out seeds rattling around inside. The task then is to make sure all the seed is scattered before there is any 'tidying up' of dead stems.
