Trerice

We took a picnic and spent a very pleasant day at this really pretty Elizabethan Manor House near Newquay,  owned by the National Trust since 1953  (having joined again this year, we're getting our money's worth!). Our 'Trerice Experience' started with a very good talk by a NT Volunteer who told us all about the history of the house, the people who have lived here and the ongoing restoration.  We enjoyed the lovely house, played a game of Kayles (Cornish bowls) I won!!, slapcock (Tudor badminton) I didn't!! and quoits in the garden, tried on armour in the great hall, marvelled at the magnificent plastered ceiling in the grand chamber and loved the  Elizabethan Lavender Knot garden.  After all this we sat on a seat in the orchard and ate our picnic in the sunshine surrounded by bees and butterflies.
We have really enjoyed Trerice.

I've added a view of a bit of the Lavender Knot Garden.
