Black tree fern

A beautiful day again, and very quiet at Pelorus Bridge.  Too cold for most visitors this time of year, although it didn't feel like it today.  This tree fern was along the track to Trig K.  
A small remnant of Marlborough forest was preserved through an historic accident.  Put aside as the site for a future town, the development never eventuated, so many years later Pelorus Bridge was protected as a reserve.  Surrounding areas were heavily logged so this is one of the few areas that still support large, old trees.
