Feeding Time!

It was an absolutely beautiful summer day that started out cool in the morning but got warm in the afternoon. A real peach of a day! I popped by the Arboretum for a quick visit in the morning and noticed there were swallows flying around the cave at the children's garden. Not only that, but there was a NEST inside, with four baby birds in it!

As I watched for a little while, one or more parents kept coming in to feed the babies. There would be a flutter of wings, and then all those tiny yellow beaks would open hopefully, and then the feeding would take place. The little birds were very well taken care of (but looked a bit grumpy when their mouths weren't open). It's a lot of work being a good bird parent, or any species of good parent, for that matter!

The song to go with this image of feeding time at the zoo . . . I mean, at the Arboretum . . . is The Ohio Express, with Yummy Yummy Yummy.
