yolande moreau

The nearby village of Ste Jalle hosts a small film festival every year and the guest of honour this time around is none other than Yolande Moreau. Tonight was the first night of the festival and we went for something to eat before the open-air viewing of one of Yolande Moreau's films, Louise et Michel.

As we were half-way through our main course, the actress and her family all appeared and sat down at the table beside us :) You can see her in the top picture behind me and then, in the bottom picture, she is to the right of the photo, about to present the film to us.

It was so warm even at midnight as the film finished and we even had a heated discussion on the way home in the car :)

There was quite a lot of black, almost slapstick humour throughout the film. It reminded me a bit of Monty Python at times. Daniel can't bear that sort of humour. So, after the opening scene where a funeral director is trying to get a coffin into the incinerator for a cremation and practically drops it to the floor, Daniel was ready to leave!

It was really interesting talking about our different senses of humour afterwards because that shocked him but he watches violence and death in series like Vikings or Game of Thrones and that doesn't bother him. I suppose that's the difference, they're not really comedy.
