Slowly getting there..

We drove over to Frigiliana this morning where there is a market on a Thursday.

We have been coming to this part of Spain since just before the recession which has hit - and in part is still hitting - the country hard and always find ourselves in this pretty village at some stage.

This building has the public space for the weekly market at the top ( a similar space is presently being built in Periana). But below there are galleries for shops , offices and other uses including , I think , car parking as the streets are always very clogged with traffic.

This year is the first time the building has had all it's walls in place but there is still no sign of occupation. However there is clearly a general upturn in the area visible in new shops and busier local cafes and streets.

However there are still lots of empty , half finished , apartment blocks and housing developments scattered across the countryside - speculations that burst when the property market and the economy crashed . Some I suspect will simply crumble , in the end, to dust.
