Ratcheugh Observatory

After an "interesting" afternoon, testing the helpfulness and efficiency of the doctors' surgery (they passed with flying colours; I now have a antibiotics for an acute infection - nothing to do with the arm, btw!), MrM decreed that we'd have have an evening of R&R on the beach and, first, fish&chips for tea - definitely not what the doctor ordered, but very nice all the same, and no washing-up to do afterwards...

It was a beautiful evening as we drove down towards Alnwick, en route for a stroll on the beach at Boulmer. Passed this folly - Google kindly helped us to identify it as Ratcheugh Observatory, apparently commissioned by the first Duke of Northumberland in the late 18th century.

There was a chill wind as we walked by the sea and MrM - muttering about his warmer jacket - reminded me that the weather forecaster on the radio this morning had warned that it may "feel autumnal"! It's still July for goodness sake...
