Another surprise find!

We actually knew it was somewhere in the house, but it was found in the cupboard under the stairs. I wasn’t looking forward to emptying out the “hole”, but it was easier than expected.

This is a story attached to this bottle of whisky. In 1977 or ’78 B was one of 4 RAF runners that won the team prize for the Pipers Whisky Challenge, a race to the top of Ben Lomond and back. They were given a bottle of whisky on the day, and received a case (12 bottles) later!!!! This is the last bottle which is being kept for a special occasion (what that is, I don’t know). The sad note for me is that I cannot stand the taste or smell of whisky. Still all the more for B, he earned it. :0)

The bottle on its side is tea wine dated 12th August 1973!! B produced it during a phase of wine making at home and decanted into one of the empty whisky bottles at a later date. We had a little taste today, it’s still palatable, so it has been transferred it to another bottle, as the old cap was deteriorating.

Another good day.  We anticipated problems with our water feature (extra photo) as it was tripping the fuse switch. Fortunately it was a case of water in the terminal box, which was easily sorted and everything reassembled.

We are now enjoying the Athletics on TV.
