Penny Lane

Three hour Fab Four Beatles Taxi tour today. Much fun, unbelievable value & hugely inspiring.

There's something quite incredible about how they all came together, a certain magical quality suggesting a kindness of the universe that allowed us all to share in what came afterwards. Compare that to Lennon's ultimately short and often tragic life, and you come to realise that life's tricks of time are often just that. A door chosen one day over one that was ignored the day before. Lennon didn't find McCartney and neither did McCartney find Lennon. Rather a mutual friend brought them together and with that, gold was formed. It's a wow slice of history!

I wonder out of the gold in your own life, how much of it was formed by you and how much of it fell into your lap? Either way it is there to be nurtured and treasured for life, and the love of it, is all.

How could these two boys have known that their meeting would affect the world? Also how could they have done so without the help of others such as Brian Epstein or George Martin or friends and contacts along the way?

I wonder, if say Brian hadn't come along and The Beatles hadn't exploded into the universal stardom that followed, I wonder what would have become of the Fab Four, not to mention the Liverpool we see today? What if the songs were still written affecting a much smaller group of people? How would they have coped with 'normal' jobs to service their income requirements? I can guess they would have been OK though I reckon they would have splintered sooner and John would have lived longer.

After a day spending time with the memories of them, I am left with feelings of awe and inspiration, not just of The Beatles, but of all the forces that came together to give us this rich legacy today.

Strawberry Fields forever.
