Ready to Fly

The first baby Osprey from our local nest fledged today!  Unfortunately I missed it by about an hour according to the Osprey cam commentary.  In this picture they are sitting in the nest with mom while dad is out fishing.  It looks like the chicks are all females as their "necklaces", like the one that mom has, are just starting to be visible.  Males have a plain white chest.  I'll be spending a lot more time at the nest this week hoping to see them all in flight.  It has been so wonderful to be able to watch this family from the time the parents arrived in March through the egg laying and hatching, the raising of the tiny babies and now seeing them learning to fly!  I am so lucky that the nest is 5 minutes from home and Boulder County has done such a great job with the camera and website!
