Ted's disappointment was keen when that lovely sofa in Paul's shop received a veto from Nora and Madge.

Not working today, spent an hour or more rescuing J's bike. He'd locked it with a combination lock to a pole in town about two weeks ago and only mentioned yesterday that he'd completely forgotten the combination and had tried every variation he could think. I spent quite a while cutting at the cable and fielding amused queries about my motives from passersby. Good sign of the honesty of the locals though, that it's still there after a few weeks, even with the small bag he also forgot still sitting there.
