The Water Is Wide

We had to go to Daventry today and stopped for lunch in Braunston, where the Grand Union Canal and the Oxford Canals join up.
What an interesting place. This is bridge 91a. There is a huge marina with lots of canal boats, some of which are for sale. You could buy one for about forty or fifty thousand pounds. There's a chandler's too with all manner of ropes and pulleys and a smell of paint.
We met a man playing the accordion, who told us somewhat randomly that he had discovered a body floating in the water there recently, and was, for about twenty minutes, the chief suspect, until foul play was ruled out and he was let go . I didn't get too close to the edge though, just in case,

According to Wikiwotsit, this bridge was constructed by Horseley Ironworks of Tipton in the West Midlands in 1830.
