Doctored Burdock/Bachelor's Buttons

Medicinally Burdock and its relatives were nothing if not versatile.  The juice was said to counteract the bites of snakes and rabid dogs, to soothe burns, and the flow of urine; the leaves were applied to sores and ulcers; the seeds were prescribed for sciatica.   The young stalks of burdock, peeled and chopped, found their way into the kitchen as a salad ingredient, or boiled and eaten with melted butter, or added to meat broth.  Its large leaves have led the plant to be mistaken for rhubarb, and account for its alternative name of wild rhubarb.  (Reader's Digest field guide to wild flowers)
