Southampton from the Itchen Bridge

There are three bridges which cross the Itchen - The Itchen Bridge, The Northam Bridge and the Cobden Bridge. This photograph was taken from the Itchen Bridge. to the left is where the River Test joins the Itchen to form Southampton Water.

The Itchen Bridge is a toll bridge which opened in  1977. Apparently it was promised that the tolls would end when the bridge was paid for. Well it's not far short of 40 years now and the tolls are still in place.
