Littlehampton

We had lunch beside the river at Littlehampton, where the Arun runs down to the sea. The little restaurant Harbour Lights is right next to the Lifeboat Station and as we were finishing lunch, there was a call out Amazing to see cars zooming up, men running, klaxon blaring. Quite exciting and humbling too, seeing these men leave their work and put everything else aside to perhaps risk their lives on a call out. In this case, 3 men went out to a boat with engine trouble.

We walked the length of the new 'prom' beside the river, the first time we have seen it finished. It's very fine, well done Littlehampton, lovely planting with plants that resist drought. Filled with folk, lots of them fishing for crabs. Plenty of seating. We walked right down to the sea and on the way back, saw the lifeboat coming home. It had no boat in tow and no extra passengers, so I assume all was well.

The picture shows the rib being launched and the river Arun where it flows down to the sea.
