Snooty Comma

I spent most of the day collecting Wild Raspberries from the nature reserve for the Kew Millenium Seed Bank. As a result, a good chunk of this evening has been devoted to pressing them through sieves and washing the flesh off to extract the seeds. Need to do more tomorrow.

Standing relatively still picking raspberries in a lovely woodland ride meant there were lots of butterflies and other insects to see. During a dull period I spotted this Comma butterfly taking a breather on some marjoram. It's unforgivably anthropomorphic, I know, but I couldn't help thinking it looked terribly snooty...but then most butterflies do, viewed side-on.
